Layout Description

A must-see layout! I have created many scratch-built items, including buildings, rolling stock, road signals, and grade crossings. Visitors can either duck under to access the center of the layout or walk around it on the outside, which provides excellent viewing opportunities and ample space for many people.

The Ford Motor Coal Dock is particularly detailed, featuring a lake freighter docked and unloading coal. Detroit, Dearborn, Wayne, and Dexter are all represented on the layout. A biplane, complete with a banner, actually flies the full length of the southern part of Dearborn.

For nighttime operations on the M&NYC, a full moon light globe illuminates the layout, allowing viewers to enjoy the scene. The Mercury and Wolverine passenger trains run daily from the Michigan Central Depot. I use pine bark for rock formations, and for some of my yard ballast, I utilize dirt collected from the curbside.

All of my electric poles on the layout are wired with thread or stretch line, and all street lights are functional. The layout is densely populated with people, cars, trucks, and trees. I create what I can, kit-bash when necessary, and make everything fit as needed. If you pass by my layout, you will truly miss a fascinating experience.
