BALTIMORE AND OHIO CORPORATIONS
It is easy to think of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad as just one corporation. The reality, however, was very different as you can see by looking at the two lists of B&O Corporations below. The first one is from 1921 while the second's from 1954. There are 113 separate corporations on the 1921 list. The 1954 list contains 76.
Some of these corporations were wholly owned by the B&O while others were only partially owned. In some cases the corporation was jointly owned with another railroad or group of railroads, for example the Akron Union Passenger Depot Company, which was co-owned by the Pennsylvania. In addition, some of the corporations were only leased by the B&O before being purchased later on.
